Signs of Lymphatic System Issues

Picture
Our body systems are all connected, and, because of this, signs and symptoms for a variety of diseases, illness and conditions can overlap.

While sometimes our symptoms may seem vague, the positive aspect of this is that by taking action to improve one system, we may see a ‘side benefit’ of improving the function of additional body systems.
Therefore, we may see the reduction of symptoms we didn’t even realize were related or had grown so used to that we forgot they were there.

Here I present you a list of symptoms that may indicate that your lymphatic fluid is not flowing adequately, and that your body needs support to improve the flow of fluid through the lymphatic system:

  • headache
  • constipation
  • sinus congestion
  • sleep disorders
  • menstrual Issues, cramps,
  • irregular cycle, PMS
  • digestive Issues, bloating, gas
  • puffy or swollen armpits
  • swollen lymph nodes
  • fatigue, low energy
  • shortness of breath
  • oral pain, disease, cavities
  • slow healing 1

This list cannot diagnose any specific issue, however, like I stated above, by focusing on improving lymphatic flow, you may see improvements in these symptoms, as well as other parts of your body too.

In addition to the symptoms listed above, there are specific conditions and/or diseases that affect the lymphatic system. These include:

  • Lymphomas and Hodgkin's disease (types of cancer)
  • Edema, lymphedema or lymphadenitis (swelling that can be due to infection or another cause of inflammation
  • Tonsillitis (swelling or infection of the tonsils)
  • Splenomegaly (an enlarged spleen due to infection)
  • Lymphangitis (infection of the lymphatic vessels)

As you can see, many of the issues that afflict the lymphatic system are tied to inflammation.

In the coming weeks we’ll dive deeper into the actions we can take to improve the health and function of our lymphatic system.
