It’s also not one to fool around with; it can cause extreme skin and mucous membrane irritation if it is not diluted properly. Oregano essential oil can be used orally (adults only) to support immune and respiratory function. It is recommended to dilute just one drop in 1 tsp of honey or in a glass of milk, milk substitute or another beverage. It can also be used as a surface cleaner; simply add 10 drops to a 16-ounce spray bottle.
You can also use it in a diffuser, if you don’t mind your whole house smelling like spaghetti sauce! On that note, oregano essential oil can also be used in cooking; just be careful, one drop goes a long way! Oregano essential oil has also been shown to be helpful in combating antibiotic resistant bacteria in multiple controlled studies. *As always, please speak with someone who is familiar with essential oils before you get started, and never ingest them unless you know that come from a trusted source and are safe for internal use.
