The cardiovascular system includes the heart, lungs and the circulation throughout our entire body. This fascinating systems works to deliver oxygen and other nutrients to all of our tissues, and then remove waste products that can't use.
While cardiovascular disease plagues most developed countries, with risk factors including poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, alcohol use and more, there is some good news!
Up to 90% of cardiovascular diseases and related ailments are preventable with lifestyle changes. This obviously includes a healthy diet, but should also address physical activity, sleep, community and stress management. Addressing all these areas is crucial. I've worked with countless clients who think they're doing all the right things because they're exercising religiously and eating healthy, but they don't address their poor sleep or stress which are sabotaging their efforts.
On top of this, our current medical model does little to support these any of these areas in a way that results in long term success.
